Impressions

The number of times your site appears in search results, even if not clicked.

In digital marketing, an "impression" is recorded every time a link to your website appears on a search engine results page (SERP). It doesn't matter if the user clicks the link or even scrolls down far enough to see it—if your page is among the results generated for a query, it counts as an impression.

Monitoring impressions via Google Search Console is the first step in diagnosing search performance. High impressions but low clicks suggest that while you are "ranking," your meta titles or descriptions aren't compelling enough to win the click. Low impressions suggest you aren't yet appearing for the terms families are actually searching for, indicating a need for better keyword targeting or technical SEO improvements.
