Ranking

Your website's numerical position on a search engine results page for a specific query.

In SEO, "ranking" refers to your website's position in the search results for a particular query. Position 1 is the very first result (excluding ads), Position 2 is the second, and so on. The goal of SEO is to achieve a "Top 3" ranking, as these spots receive over 60% of all clicks.

Rankings are fluid and can change daily depending on competition, algorithm updates, and the "freshness" of your content. For care homes, the most important rankings are those for local "service + location" queries in the Map Pack and the organic results immediately below it. Being on Page 1 is the objective; being in the Top 3 is the standard for driving high enquiry volumes.
